| DESCRIPTION |
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Of the 338 examples graded by PSA, only six examples of this card have ever been graded higher. Striking high-grade example of this classic card of Hall of Fame pitcher Carl Hubbell from the 1933 Goudey series. The card exhibits a particularly bright, bold red background, perfect registration, four sharp corners with just the slightest hint of wear visible under magnification, and a flawless surface. Almost perfect centering (slightly to the right, approximately 55/45 L/R). The card is crisp and clean, both front and back (one tiny dent in the middle of the right border visible from the reverse is mentioned for the sake of accuracy). Hubbell was one of baseball's greatest pitchers; he will always be remembered for his five consecutive strikeouts of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, and Joe Cronin in the second Major League All-Star Game in 1934. This is a very attractive high-grade example of this classic 1930s bubble-gum card. SMR value for the assigned grade is $2,500. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+.
