Player endorsed baseball products have always been a favorite among collectors and the offered Stan Musial glove box certainly ranks as one of the most visually appealing examples ever created. The box, which once housed a Rawlings PMM youth baseball glove pictures "Stan the Man" on all four side panels. Adding to the appeal of this piece is the fact that it once resided in the famed Barry Halper Collection. Barry, as was his custom, had Musial inscribe the piece in blue marker (grading "6") on the lid, “To Barry – Best Wishes – Stan Musial.” One of the side panels is also signed in blue marker (“7”) by Musial. The box (8.5 x 8.5 x 6.5 inches), which displays beautifully, is affected by some very light water staining, a tape repair on a side seam, and a small area of scribbled ink on a side panel. In Good to Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$400. |
