Graded EX 5 by PSA. Beautiful example of one of Babe Ruth’s most classic cards, #53 Ruth with yellow background from the 1933 Goudey series. This is a particularly attractive card, far superior to examples normally at this grade. At a glance it looks EX-MT. The card is bright and clean, with a pack-fresh appearance, perfect registration, and square corners. Centered slightly to the bottom. The reverse is centered slightly to the left with bold green text. There is a tiny surface wrinkle in the lower right corner which does not detract from the tremendous eye-appeal this card displays. This is a beautiful card in an extremely desirable condition (at first glance this card appears EX-MT), and shares almost all important elements in common with examples of a much higher technical grade. Excellent condition Goudeys rarely look this nice, especially Ruth cards. This is an extremely high quality card, representing a rare and outstanding value, that is ideal for the collector who wants a beautiful 1933 Goudey #53 Ruth card, but is not interested in spending the many additional thousands (or even tens of thousands) of dollars an example in a significantly higher grade would require. SMR value in assigned grade is $5,750. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000+. |
