| DESCRIPTION |
Graded EX 60 by SGC. One of only six graded at this level by SGC, with none graded higher. This rare Dockman & Sons caramel issue from 1909 shares designs with several other closely related candy issues (Croft's Candy, Nadja Caramels, etc.) from the same era. The offered example of Hall of Famer Honus Wagner (throwing pose) is in exceptionally high grade. Bright and clean, with light wear on the corners, and vibrant colors. The back is also bright and clean, with very bold text. Caramel cards are rarely found in high grade. This card is one of the great highlights of one of the most substantial original-owner caramel card collections we have ever offered. The entire collection of over 350 1910-era candy cards (plus over 200 tobacco cards) have been consigned to this auction (all appear in the Internet-only section of the auction), and have been saved for decades by the family of the original owner. This is an extraordinary example of the legendary Honus Wagner from this rare, early twentieth-century candy issue. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000.
