| DESCRIPTION |
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Only four examples have ever been graded higher by PSA. Extremely highly graded example of 1915 E145 Cracker Jack #22 "Smokey" Joe Wood, one of the most important star pitchers of the era. While Cracker Jacks were issued one card per box, in 1915 the entire set of 176 cards could also be ordered direct from the factory by mail in exchange for 100 coupons, or 1 coupon plus 25 cents. Cracker Jacks are universally regarded as one of the most classic and highly regarded baseball-card sets ever produced. This factory-set fresh card is extremely sharp and perfectly clean, both front and back, with four razor-sharp corners, and with a very slight natural tilt to the image. The image is centered 65/35 left to right and 40/60 top to bottom. Though not a Hall of Famer, "Smokey" Joe Wood was one of the best known and most legendary pitchers of the dead-ball era (and in the eyes of many collectors and scholars is deserving of induction into the Hall of Fame). This is a stunning high-grade example of one of the key stars from the classic 1915 E145 Cracker Jack series. SMR value is $2,500. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+.
