Graded MINT 96 by SGC. Highest-graded example! One of only four examples graded at this level by SGC. Extraordinary ultra high-grade example of one of Ted Williams' most popular cards. This is an extremely strong example of this classic 1950s bubble-gum card. Bright and clean, front and back, with flawless colors, and razor-sharp corners, and centered just ever-so-slightly to the top right (approximately 60/40 L/R and 45/55 T/B). The remarkable condition is all the more impressive as (being card #1 in the set) this card would naturally receive more handling and wear. Though Williams broke into the majors all the way back in 1939, he was still in top form at the time of this card's issue (his sixteenth major league season). Williams hit .388 in 1957, and the statistics on the reverse of the card show Williams hitting .345 the previous season. Pack-fresh, crisp, ultra high-grade example of one of Williams' most classic cards, worthy of the finest collection. One of the highlight cards from the Rothman Collection. This card is a gem!
