DESCRIPTION
Graded EX 5 by PSA. One of only five examples graded at this level with none graded higher. Presented is an absolutely stunning example of this very scarce and popular card which is so similar in appearance to the famous T206 Wagner and dates from the same era. Honus did not want to encourage youngsters to smoke but had no problem with promoting candy. The "Flying Dutchman" is the key card in the 1910 E90-2 American Caramel set. Rarely does an example of this classic card have such extraordinary eye appeal. This is a gorgeous card, with outstanding color, perfect registration, and an extremely bold blue background. The card has light, even corner wear and a very insignificant print mark above Wagner’s right shoulder, an extremely clean and crisply printed back, and may have been downgraded from EX-MT by PSA due to the most insignificant (virtually undetectable) surface paper wrinkle to the left of Wagner's right ear. This is a sensational high-grade example of one of prewar card collecting's most desirable and classic cards, and a card which, with good reason, continues to grow in popularity and stature. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000.
