Graded VG 3 (MK) by PSA. 1887 N172 Old Judge card of Hall of Famer Pud Galvin (pose #177-2). 1887 copyright date. Galvin retired as one of baseball's all-time pitching leaders in wins (sixth), losses (second), complete games (639, second), innings pitched (second), and shutouts (57, tied for tenth). He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1965. This is an extremely attractive card with outstanding picture quality and contrast, strong centering, and light corner wear. A slight layering effect is visible in the upper right area of the card. The letter “B” written in pencil on the otherwise blank reverse is solely responsible for the MK qualifier. This is a very striking example of one of Galvin's most impressive cards and would make a worthy addition to any N172 Old Judge or nineteenth century classic-card collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
