Rare caramel issue from 1909, the Dockman & Sons set shares designs with several other closely related candy issues (Croft's Candy, Nadja Caramels, etc.) from the same era. The offered example of Hall of Famer Honus Wagner (batting pose) is exceptionally attractive. It is easy to see why this is recognized as one of the most striking and classic of all Wagner cards. The card has been encapsulated by PSA as "Authentic" and is noted on the label as "Altered." We believe that slight trims to the top and right edges are the only alterations to this card. Presenting as Vg-Ex+, this example is bright and clean, with perfect registration, light wear on the corners, vibrant colors, and excellent centering. A tiny wrinkle is visible on the right border. The back is also bright and clean, with very bold text. This is a superb card that is ideal for the collector who wants an attractive example of the legendary Honus Wagner from this rare, early twentieth-century candy issue, but is not interested in spending the many thousands of dollars an example in a significantly higher grade would require.
