Original photo capturing the New York Yankees posing together on field at spring training in 1932. Certified as an original Type 1 photograph by PSA/DNA. The crystal-clear image pictures 37 team members, including team owner Jacob Ruppert, manager Joe McCarthy, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Bill Dickey, Tony Lazzeri, Lefty Gomez, Red Ruffing, Earl Combs, Joe Sewell, and Herb Pennock. The white-letter caption along the base reads "Yankee Team 32." The photographer's name, "Thorne," appears in the lower right corner. A "Thorne Photo" credit stamp also appears on the reverse. (Thorne Studios was one of several photography studios used by the Yankees to take official publicity/reference photos for the club.) This is an exceptional New York Yankees team photo dating from Ruth's last World Championship season with the Yankees. The fact that it also includes Hall of Fame owner Jacob Ruppert, plus many players from the extended spring training roster that did not make the club that year, distinguishes it from the standard official team photos taken later in the regular season. Also, incredibly, this photo pictures eleven Hall of Fame members, counting Ruppert. The Yankees later swept the Chicago Cubs in the 1932 World Series, which was highlighted by Ruth's "Called Shot" in Game 3. The photo (10 x 8 inches) displays chips in the upper left and lower right corner, a large diagonal crease extending from the top border (affects only the two player images in the top row, far right), and a few lesser edge tears and light creases. In Very Good condition overall.
