White flannel uniform (shirt and pants) identical in style to that worn by the Cleveland Indians between the years 1936 and 1938. Although no size tags are present in either the jersey or pants, it is a very small uniform and appears to be a youth-sized garment (10-14 years old). The jersey features a red-on-black felt "C" on the left chest and a decorative multicolored chenille patch depicting the head of an "Indian Cheif" on the left sleeve. Red piping runs along the button panel, while red and black piping adorns the sleeve ends. A "Spalding" patch appears in the collar. The matching pants feature red piping down the side of each leg and a "Spalding" label on the interior button fly. Given that the garment appears to be an exact replica of an adult 1936-1938 Cleveland Indians major league uniform, and features a vintage 1930s Spalding tag, it seems reasonable to assume that it was issued for an official team mascot or batboy. If so, this is an especially desirable uniform. As most jersey collectors know, 1930s Cleveland Indians jerseys are exceedingly rare and of the few that are known, nearly all have had the patch removed (we have never seen a uniform with the patch, but we have heard that at least one exists). As such, this example is the next best alternative for collectors wishing to obtain a complete 1930s Cleveland Indians and, equally important, it can be obtained at a far lesser cost than a player-worn garment. Both the jersey and pants display wear, including a few light stains, and each also displays a number of small insect holes (more so on the jersey). The jersey measures 31 inches across from sleeve end to sleeve end, and the pants inseam measures 14 inches.
