Presented is an extremely rare double-player N173 Old Judge cabinet card featuring Chris Fullmer and Tommy Tucker (#175-6 pose) of the Baltimore Orioles. According to The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company (1886-1890), the definitive book on Old Judges by Jay Miller, Joe Gonsowski, and Richard Masson, there are twenty-three different cards on which Goodwin & Co. identifies both players by name (as is the case with the offered example). Approximately twenty-seven other cards within the set feature a second player but only list one player on the card. The offered example presents with an outstanding photo that possesses tremendous detail--you can count the folds in their pants! Encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC, the upper left corner (when held horizontal as intended) has been reattached with clear tape on the reverse. The blank reverse has paper loss and tape remnants from scrapbook removal. This remains a rare and very presentable sample featuring two players from one of the most revered and substantial of all nineteenth-century baseball-card issues. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
