Graded FAIR 20 by SGC (submitted by REA). extremely attractive modestly graded example of one of Tris Speaker's most impressive cards, from the rare and highly regarded PC805 postcard set issued by the Novelty Cutlery Co. of Canton, Ohio, in 1907. Speaker is one of the key Hall of Famers in the set. The PC805 series is universally recognized as one of the most desirable of all baseball postcard issues. These cards have always been appreciated by collectors both for their extreme rarity and distinctive style. The card is very crisp and clean with minimal, evenly rounded corners, and a few light moisture stains are visible mostly on the top and right borders. The reverse has pencil writing, the number "14" written in red ink, and the ink stamp of the original owner, which reads "From American Post Card Collection of Joseph J. Nardone - Hobby Collector of U.S. Street View Post Cards Prior 1915.". Do not be fooled by the modest grade! This card has an appearance far superior to its technically accurate grade and would easily grade VG if not for the condition flaws on the back. This is a very attractive and rare card of one of the era's most legendary Hall of Famers. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
