Graded VG 40 by SGC. Presented is a very pleasing example of one of the key rarities in the entire E90-1 American Caramel series: the batting pose of Hall of Famer Fred Clarke depicting him with Pittsburgh. Clarke appears on two cards in this set, both a batting pose; one depicting him with Philadelphia and the other depicting him with Pittsburgh, the rarer of which is offered here. It is bright and clean, both front and back, with a bold red background, even wear to the corners, and centered toward the upper right. This is a very presentable example of a key Hall of Famer rarity from the most popular caramel-card set of the era that would be at home in any world-class caramel card or Hall of Fame card collection. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $750. We can't help but think that is low and simply does not take into account the extreme rarity of this card. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
