Collection of four 1910 E90-2 American Caramel Pittsburgh Pirates, highlighted by Hall of Famer Fred Clarke. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA). These extremely distinctive and scarce "E" cards feature members of the World Champion 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates. One of the key cards in the set is Fred Clarke (along with Honus Wagner). The example in this group is modestly graded but is still a very attractive card. This is one of Clarke's most striking cards! All the cards in this group have exceptional eye appeal: Fred Clarke (HOF, GOOD+ 2.5; with slightly rounded corners, horizontal crease across the center, and a couple caramel stains on the reverse, but still bright and crisp, with an extremely bold red background), George Gibson (VG 3), Ham Hyatt (VG 3), and Deacon Phillippe (VG 3). Few caramel-card issues are as distinctive as E90-2 American Caramel Company cards. While closely related to the popular E90-1 American Caramel series, E90-2 is a separate set. The quality of the artworks which appear in E90-2 are among the most detailed of all caramel cards, and are far superior in quality at even a glance to that of most other caramel cards (including E90-1) and other card issues of the era. This is a very attractive group of four cards including Fred Clarke from one of the most highly regarded of all 1910-era candy issues. Total: 4 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
