Rare 1888 Presidential Base Ball Club card of Benjamin Harrison. Catalogued N154 and issued by Duke & Sons, the Presidential B.B. Club set is similar in dimensions (4.25 x 2.25 inches), design, and rarity to Kalamazoo Bats, but instead of ballplayers, they feature large ("Heads-Up" style) photographic portraits of the presidential and vice presidential candidates of 1888. Each portrait is comically superimposed on baseball-player bodies and posed in various baseball scenes with very elaborate studio stadium backdrops. On this card, Benjamin Harrison is pictured in a fielding pose with his hands on his knees. Graded GOOD 30 by SGC, with a moderate horizontal crease and two ink specks in the center. It should be noted that the flaws are fairly unobtrusive and this remains an attractive low-grade example from this unusual and extremely scarce nineteenth-century issue. Reserve $200.
