Graded EX 5 by PSA. This is the ONLY example ever graded by PSA! Exceptional high-grade example of Hall of Famer Bobby Orr's rookie card from the extremely scarce 1965-1966 Crown Life Spotlight Oshawa Generals Team Issue set. This large black-and-white team issued photo (5 x 7 inches) is far rarer than Orr’s 1966-1967 Topps card, and is extremely condition sensitive due to its large-size. Picturing Orr in a portrait pose, the card is crisp and clean, with a flawless image and four strong corners showing tiny touches of wear under close inspection. A tiny border wrinkle accounts for the assigned grade despite an otherwise Near Mint overall appearance. Clean reverse. We are aware of fewer than ten examples of this card known to exist, and it is one that is on many advanced Bobby Orr and hockey-card wantlists. Given the recent $204,000 sale of Orr's 1966-1967 Topps USA Test rookie card in MINT 9 condition, this card undoubtedly presents a superb value as it dates from the year prior. Taking into account Orr’s significance to the game and the extreme rarity of this issue, an argument could be made to include this card on any list of the the most important hockey cards in the hobby. This is an outstanding high-grade example of Bobby Orr from this distinctive and very scarce 1960s issue, which predates his 1966-1967 Topps card and is thus considered by many to be his "true rookie" card. Opening Bid $1,000. Estimate $5,000++.
