Highly coveted and scarce official program issued for the first Masters Tournament, held at the Augusta National Golf Club, in Augusta, Georgia, in 1934. For golf collectors, this is THE most important program in the hobby and a requisite for any advanced collection. While it is not known for certain how many 1934 Masters programs exist, the number is certainly low, and they seldom appear at public auction. It must be noted that this program has been reprinted, and the reprints are commonly offered for sale. The offered program, of course, is an original and was purchased by our consignor at an auction in Great Britain many years ago. The 44-page program (8.5 x 11 inches) includes diagrams of each hole, photos of the grounds, and photos of prominent club members, including Bobby Jones. This is the first 1934 Masters program we have ever offered and, given its condition, it was obviously well cared for over the years. Light handling wear is evident on both covers, including a few small abrasions and surface blemishes. The covers remain firmly bound, as are all of the pages, which remain clean and bright. This edition includes a page listing the tournament results, which is seen in approximately a third of the 1934 Masters programs that have survived. In Excellent condition overall and a fine representative copy of this important golf program. Opening Bid $5,000. Estimate $10,000++.
