1887 N172 Old Judge of Hall of Famer Mike "King" Kelly (#254-4 pose), identified as "$10,000 Kelly" with "Chicago" on his jersey. Kelly earned this nickname when he was sold from Chicago to Boston following the 1886 season for this then-unheard-of sum. This has always been one of our favorite Kelly cards, in part because of the elaborate background, and in part because of the pose. The card displays outstanding photo quality, light wear on the corners, and centering slightly low. The blank reverse is clean. Encapsulated “Authentic” by PSA due to the bottom trimmed. This is a very presentable example of one of the most striking cards in the Old Judge set of the legendary Mike "King" Kelly, one of nineteenth-century baseball's greatest stars. Reserve $300.
