1887 N172 Old Judge portrait example of Cap Anson (pose #11-1). This card originates from a new-to-the-hobby collection of nineteenth-century cards that had been carefully saved in the pages of a scrapbook for over a century. This card was carefully removed from the scrapbook by a professional conservator using deionized water. It was submitted to SGC for grading with this information and SGC encapsulated the card as "Authentic." The offered card displays irregularities on all four edges, light photo contrast in some areas, a crease in the upper right, and even toning on the front. The blank reverse has an ink notation and two spots of paper loss. This is a very presentable example of N172 Cap Anson, one of the nineteenth century's most desirable and classic cards.
