Scarce team cabinet card featuring portrait images of 12 members of the 1888 San Francisco Pioneers of the the California League. The composite features each player in a bust-length pose dressed in formal attire, with the player's last name printed next to his respective image. The players identified here are J. Smith (Capt.), Gagus, Finn (Mgr.), Carroll, N. Smith, Moore, Taylor, Lorigan, Hurley, H. Smith, Perrier, and Crosby. The photographer's credit stamp, Elite Photographic Studio of San Francisco, California, is printed on the base of the mount and on the reverse. Although no year is listed, 1888 was the only season that Jerry Hurley played for San Francisco (Hurley, along with John Smith and Henry Moore, also played in the Major Leagues). The card (4.25 x 6.5 inches) displays small areas of light, scattered discoloration on the front, edge and border wear, and a pinhole in the lower right quadrant. In Good condition overall.
