In 1961, if you were walking down the supermarket aisle, you would have seen unopened boxes of Post cereal brands stacked along the shelves with a baseball trading card on the reverse. Eager children would have undoubtedly scoured the available boxes for their favorite player and implored their parents to buy that very box so they could cut out the card and add it to their collection. Presented here is very pleasing complete 3/4 oz. box of Post "Alpha-Bits" cereal featuring an example of #159 Wally Moon on the reverse. The box has had the cereal product removed and the top flap re-glued to appear as an unopened box. The preservation of this box is most improbable. We have seen only a handful of complete boxes of Post and other box-issued foods offered for sale at public auction in the last decade, many of which have been flattened or suffer from severe condition issues. The box (4 x 2-3/4 x 1-1/8 inches) is in overall Good condition due to creasing and moderate corner and edge wear. The nearly sixty year old box presents very attractively when displayed and viewed in person. This is an extremely impressive collectible that would be at home in any world-class Los Angeles Dodgers or food-issue collection. Reserve $50. Estimate (open).
