Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Presented is one of the finest examples in the world of one of collecting’s most classic cards, the 1952 Bowman #101 Mickey Mantle. Only thirteen examples are graded at this level by PSA with just two examples higher out of 3,081 cards evaluated to date. It is very rare for any card of this vintage to be in such perfect condition as to warrant this ultimate grade. The colors are bright, crisp, and absolutely flawless. The card is clean, front and back, with snow-white borders and four sharp corners. The registration is flawless. The centering, both front and back, is virtually perfect, and not even the slightest hint of gum or wax stains, which are so common with 1952 Bowmans, is present. This second-year Mantle card has long been recognized as one of Mantle's most popular cards, and it's easy to understand why. As a point of reference, a 1954 Bowman Mantle PSA MINT 9, which boasts a similar population to this card with only eleven examples graded at that level, recently sold for $168,000 at public auction. This is a card which does not appear often in such lofty condition and would make a worthy centerpiece to even the most advanced collection. It is a simply incredible example in all respects of one of Mickey Mantle’s most important cards and one of the most recognizable cards in all of card collecting. Opening Bid $25,000. Estimate (open).
