Very striking 1887 N172 Old Judge example of Hall of Famer Ned Hanlon (pose #212-3) with an elaborate studio background. Hanlon was a Major League ballplayer with six different teams from 1880 to 1892. He was a consistent player, accumulating over 1,300 hits during his career, but he is best known for his success as manager. Hanlon was the manager of the Baltimore Orioles from 1892 to 1898, a span during which the club won three pennants and two World Championships. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1996. Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, the offered card has outstanding photo quality; light, even corner wear; and centering slightly toward the left. A light stain is visible on the blank reverse. An exceptional example of a particularly difficult-to-find Old Judge Hall of Famer. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
