Graded FR 1.5 by SGC (submitted by REA). Hall of Famer Dan Brouthers from this very popular and colorful set of fifty, which includes just eight baseball players, issued by Old Judge and Gypsy Queen. This modestly graded example features a portrait of Brouthers, one of the nineteenth century's most legendary stars. Brouthers was a five-time batting champion who also led the National League in slugging percentage each of his first six full seasons. Bright and crisp, with light corner wear, flawless registration, and centering slightly toward the left. A few spots of paper residue are visible on Brouthers' image. The reverse of the card has minor paper loss from album removal. N162s are universally recognized as one of pre-1900 card collecting's most highly regarded sets. This is a classic nineteenth-century baseball card of one of the era's greatest stars. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
