Extraordinary uncut sheet of 1954 Wilson Franks featuring twenty cards, including Ted Williams, Bob Feller, Roy Campanella, Enos Slaughter, Nellie Fox, and Gil Hodges. As tough as this set is to find as a complete set, presented is a complete set in a 20-card uncut sheet, which is perhaps the rarest and most ideal form possible. The Wilson Franks set is highly prized by collectors as one of the most attractive and desirable of all 1950s regional issues. In an era dominated by bubble-gum card sets featuring hundreds of players, the distinctive and beautifully designed Wilson Franks, with only twenty cards, each featuring a package of hot dogs in the background, stands out. This sheet presents all twenty different players in the 1954 Wilson Franks set, and in a condition that is difficult to find as individual cards. Wilson Franks’ cards are almost always found in mid-grade at best, as they were issued one card per package with Wilson Franks. The fact that these cards were never cut and packaged, and the sheet was miraculously preserved, has resulted in this extraordinary presentation of twenty uncut high-grade cards. The sheet offers outstanding visual appeal from the front, with condition flaws (corner wear, a crease across the lower left, and light moisture stains) mostly limited to the four corner cards. The back of the sheet shows that it was mounted to a backing at one time. A white adhesive strip is visible across the top along with scattered spots of paper loss and glue remnants in the interior. A few spots of color added can be found in these damaged areas. The sheet measures 10-1/2 x 18-5/8 inches. This is a standout sheet of the era and, in our opinion, without question is one of the most spectacular and exciting uncut baseball-card sheets in the entire world of collecting. Overall Very Good condition. Opening Bid $5,000. Estimate $20,000+.
