Graded POOR 1 by SGC (submitted by REA).Modestly graded example of legendary Hall of Famer Cap Anson from the colorful 1888 N162 Goodwin Champions set. This card is part of an exciting, fresh-to-the-hobby collection consigned to this auction by the family of a Midwestern collector who built his impressive collection over a period of many decades, beginning as a young boy in the 1930s. Anson is the key card from this very popular fifty-card set issued by Old Judge and Gypsy Queen Cigarettes. This example is bright and crisp, with vibrant colors and slightly-off registration. The corners display even wear, and the card is centered to the far left. Downgraded from Vg-Ex due to a large area of paper loss on the reverse from album removal. This card presents a great opportunity to acquire an extremely pleasing example of one of the most classic of all nineteenth-century baseball cards, at a far more affordable level than what a technically higher graded example would cost.
