Rarely offered collection of twelve cards (of the 25 in the set) from the E102 Anonymous “Set of 25” series, each graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA) and highlighted by five Hall of Famers. These cards are part of an exciting, fresh-to-the-hobby collection consigned to this auction by the family of a Midwestern collector who built his impressive collection over a period of many decades, beginning as a young boy in the 1930s. The manufacturer of E102 is unknown. The fronts are identical in design to their E101 counterparts and can most easily be distinguished by the attractive black-printed checklist of the 25-card complete set on the reverse of each card. This collection consists of the following: VG/EX 4 (2 cards): Bender (HOF) and Chase. VG 3 (2 cards): Miller/batting and Smith. GOOD+ 2.5 (4 cards): Collins (HOF), Lajoie (HOF), Tinker (HOF), and Zimmerman. GOOD 2 (1 card): Crawford (HOF). FAIR 1.5 (2 cards): Bescher and Doyle/throwing. Authentic (1 card): Dougherty. All of the cards possess bright colors and crisp images. This collection represents a relatively affordable start to collecting one of the era's most elusive "E" card sets. Total: 12 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
