Rare Babe Ruth real-photo postcard capturing him posing with a Native American at Seminole Indian Village in St. Petersburg, Florida, circa 1920s. As noted by period pencil notations on the reverse, the nattily attired Ruth is seen here pictured with the Village's "Medicine Man," who is wearing his traditional garb. The Yankees trained in St. Petersburg, Florida, from 1925 to 1942. Given Ruth's comparatively svelte appearance compared to his later years with the Yankees, this postcard most likely dates from one of the club's earliest spring training camps in St. Petersburg. A "Houston Williams Photo Service - St. Petersburg, Florida" credit stamp appears on the reverse. The card (3.25 x 5.25 inches) displays a small stain in the upper left quadrant, light edge wear, and the aforementioned pencil notations on the reverse (it has not been mailed). Encapsulated and graded FAIR 1.5 by SGC. It should be noted that the card displays at a much higher level than suggested by its technically accurate grade, which was largely predicated by the writing on the reverse. Reserve $300.
