Scarce Christmas card sent by Babe Ruth and wife Claire in 1930. The one-page card (on heavy stock) features a color illustration of the Ruth family hearth, with photos of Babe and Claire Ruth pictured on the mantle. The text along the base reads "It would be Ruthless for us to overlook your Christmas - The Ruths." The card (5 x 7 inches) displays a few light-to-moderate creases and is in Very Good condition overall. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope (7.25 x 5.125 inches; Vg), addressed to "Mr. James Donohue and Family," and postmarked December 19, 1930. (James Donohue was a close friend of Ruth's and the source of many significant Ruth game-used and signed items in the hobby today.) Total: 2 items (card and envelope). Reserve $100. Estimate (open).
