Original news photo picturing Babe Ruth posing with wife Helen and daughter Dorothy prior to Game 3 of the 1927 World Series. Certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. Ruth and his family are captured posing for the camera in front of the grandstand, with Dorothy sitting on the wall, her arms draped around her mother's neck. Although unbeknownst to the press, Ruth and Helen were separated at the time of this photo and rarely saw each other. Two years later Helen died in house fire at the home of Edward Kinder, a gentleman with whom she had been living with since 1927 (Dorothy was at boarding school at the time of the fire). An "Oct 8 '27" date stamp appears on the reverse, along with an affixed newspaper caption describing the scene, as well as a few editorial notations. The photo (7.75 x 9.75 inches) displays a few small edge tears, light creasing, and editorial marks on the front. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
