Graded EX 5 by PSA. Extraordinary high-grade example of #30 Ty Cobb from the classic 1914 Cracker Jack series. The 1914 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb is universally recognized as one of card collecting's great classics and one of Ty Cobb's most desirable and striking cards. 1914 Cracker Jacks are naturally much more difficult to find in high grade than their 1915 counterparts because the 1914 #144 series cards were issued only in boxes of Cracker Jack, while the 1915 set could be obtained as a factory set directly from the company by mail. Cobb is featured on this card in a batting pose set against a deep red background. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with just a hint of very light honest caramel staining on the reverse, which is to be expected with 1914 #144 Series Cracker Jack. 1914 Cracker Jacks, of course, are almost always found with serious caramel staining, but this example has far less than commonly found with cards from this series, and is simply magnificent in all respects. It has outstanding color, an extremely bold red background, and light wear on the corners. Centered just a hint toward the top left. The reverse has bold black print. The classic Cracker Jack set is considered by many to be the most beautiful card set ever issued. This is a very rarely offered high-grade example of the most important of all Cracker Jack or Ty Cobb cards, and one that would be a significant highlight in any world-class collection of 1914 Cracker Jack, Ty Cobb, or classic vintage baseball cards.
