Graded GOOD 2 by SGC (submitted by REA). Very attractive low-grade sample of one of the most revered of all nineteenth century baseball-card issues: the N173 Old Judge Goodwin cabinet-card series. The offered card features New York second baseman Danny Richardson (#385-4 pose) posed in front of a simple studio backdrop. This card is part of an exciting, fresh-to-the-hobby collection consigned to this auction by the family of a Midwestern collector who built his impressive collection over a period of many decades, beginning as a young boy in the 1930s. This is a very attractive example with outstanding photo clarity. The mount has moderate edge and corner wear, including tiny spots of chipping on top and bottom. The blank reverse has "Hardy Richardson MQA" written in pencil and moderate soiling. This is a very pleasing lower-grade sample from one of the most revered and substantial of all nineteenth-century baseball-card issues. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
