Rare New York Highlanders "fold-out" postcard dating from the 1906 season. This is one of only a few 1906 New York Highlanders "fold-out" postcards we have seen and the first we have ever offered. The front cover features a photo of the Highlanders dugout at Hilltop Park prior to a game. The interior features individual photos of 18 Highlanders team members, 16 of which fold-out accordion style on a long sheet (10 photos are on the front of the sheet, 6 are on the reverse, and 2 are on the interior back cover of the postcard). All the players are identified in print below their respective image, including Willie Keeler, manager Clark Griffith, Jack Chesbro, Hal Chase, Kid Elberfeld, and Noodles Hahn. Two scoresheets are included within the photographic foldout. The American League schedule for the 1906 season appears on the inside front cover. Obviously, these postcards were sold at the ballpark, where a patron could score the game and then mail it to a friend. This particular example has neither been scored nor addressed. The postcard (5.25 x 3.5 inches; folded) displays light toning, as well as a few small abrasions, tears, and creases to the exterior. The interior foldout is in Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
