Pair of New York Highlanders team composites from the W601 Sporting Life series dating, respectively, from 1903 and 1906. These Sporting Life team composites, printed on heavy enamel paper and issued by the Sporting Life newspaper, were available to fans either by individual purchase (for ten cents) or as a complete set in a bound volume. 1) 1903 New York Highlanders W601 Sporting Life team composite featuring portrait images of eighteen team members, including manager Clarke Griffith, Jack Chesbro, Willie Keeler, John Ganzel (misspelled "Ganzell"), Monte Beville, Wid Conroy, Herm McFarland, Lefty Davis, Harry Howell, and Jimmy Williams. The piece (12 x 14 inches) is technically in Poor condition due to numerous condition flaws including heavy rippling, moisture stains, and missing pieces on the left edge. 2) 1906 New York Highlanders W601 Sporting Life team composite featuring portrait images of nineteen team members, including manager Clarke Griffith, Jack Chesbro, Willie Keeler, Hal Chase, Al Orth, Kid Elberfield, Wid Conroy, Red Kleinow, Deacon McGuire, and Danny Hoffman. The offered piece originates from a bound volume, as indicated by the three prepunched binding holes along the left border. The piece (13 x 14 inches) is technically in Fair condition due to numerous condition flaws including moderate creasing, a tack hole on Doyle's image, and a missing piece on the right edge. Two early New York Highlanders displays that are ideal for framing. Total: 2 items. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
