Collection of four different cards from the rare and highly regarded PC805 postcard set issued by the Novelty Cutlery Co. of Canton, Ohio, in 1910, highlighted by Hall of Famers Mordecai Brown and Frank Chance. The PC805 series is universally recognized as one of the most desirable of all baseball postcard issues. These cards have always been appreciated by collectors both for their extreme rarity and distinctive style. These cards are part of a fresh-to-the-hobby collection of nine Novelty Cutlery postcards consigned to this auction by the family of the original owner (whose name happens to be written on the back of all the cards). All four cards in the lot have been professionally graded and encapsulated FAIR 1.5 by SGC (submitted by REA) due to the aforementioned pencil writing on the reverses. The lot consists of the following: Mordecai Brown (HOF), Frank Chance (HOF), Red Dooin, and Artie Hofman. All four postcards present with a Vg to Vg-Ex appearance from the front. This is a very attractive grouping of four postcards from this rare series, which would make a superb addition to any advanced baseball-postcard collection. Total: 4 cards. Reserve $300.
