Rare invitation to the opening of White Sox Park, on July 1, 1910. The fold-over invitation features the blue-embossed Chicago White Sox logo along the top cover and a beautiful engraving of the new park along the base. The text, lettered in grand calligraphic style, reads "The American League Base Ball Club of Chicago requests the honor of your presence at the Opening of White Sox Park Friday Afternoon, July the first nineteen hundred and ten at three o'clock." While we do not know how many VIPs received this invitation, most of those who did obviously did not save them. This is one of only a few examples of this invitation we have seen and just the third we have ever offered. The invitation (7 x 9 inches) displays a horizontal fold and a small light area of discoloration along the base of the reverse, otherwise it is in Excellent condition. Accompanied by its original envelope, which is neither addressed nor mailed (Vg; flag detached). Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
