Graded POOR 1 by SGC (submitted by REA). 1887 N172 Old Judge card of Hall of Famer Dan Brouthers (#43-1) with Detroit posed in front of an elaborate studio backdrop. This is a magnificent card with extremely strong photo quality, light wear on the square corners, and excellent centering. The reverse has evidence of album removal, which is, of course, very common with Old Judges and is solely responsible for its harsh technical grade. Brouthers was a five-time batting champion who led the National League in slugging percentage each of his first six full seasons, and is one of the most prominent of all nineteenth-century Hall of Famers. This is a very attractive Hall of Famer example from the nineteenth century's most revered set. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
