Graded GOOD+ 2.5 by SGC (submitted by REA). Rare double-player pose N172 example featuring Hall of Famer Tim Keefe fielding the ball and Danny Richardson sliding (pose #251-9). Very clean and attractive example with an 1887 copyright date. There are only twenty-two different double-player poses in the Old Judge set. This is one of the most desirable of the popular double-player pose cards, and one of the few to include a Hall of Famer. Keefe had 35 victories (against just 19 defeats) in 1887. His records in previous years were equally impressive: 42 in 1886, 37 in 1885, 37 in 1884, and 41 in 1883. These seasons together, from 1883 to 1887, may have been the most dominating five seasons for any pitcher in any era. He went on to win a total of 344 games in just 14 years (1880-1893). Excellent photo quality, light, even corner wear, a crease on the left border (when held horizontally), and writing on the blank reverse, which contribute to the modest assigned grade. Reserve $200.
