Newly discovered collection of five extremely rare 1887 N690 Kalamazoo Bats cards, each of which long ago had the advertisement on the bottom clipped off. Each card is encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC (submitted by REA). The group consists of the following: 1-2) Two Charlie Ferguson 3) Fred Mann, 4) Charlie Mason, and 5) Harry Stovey/hands outstretched (last name misspelled Stowe). Despite the obvious condition problems, this is an impressive group of these rare cards. While condition is always of utmost importance with regard to value, and these are low-grade examples, the cards are clean, and the images are unaffected by the condition problems, which include some edge and corner wear, as well as a crease or two. These Kalamazoo Bats were just recently discovered (along with three additional N690 Kalamazoo Bats double-player cards and one additional N693 team card, which are offered as separate lots in this auction) by a noncollector who just happened to come across these cards among the family's possessions. This group represents a very rare, possibly unique opportunity to obtain extremely attractive low-grade examples of these significant nineteenth-century rarities for a small fraction of what these cards would sell for in an undamaged state. Total: 5 cards. Reserve $500.
