Graded VG 3 (MK) by PSA. Rare candy card of Babe Ruth from one of the few issues dating from the late 1920s, the E210 York Caramel set. Cards from this set are identical in design to several other issues of the era, such as Tharp's Ice Cream, Sweetman, and Harrington's Ice Cream, but with advertising for the "York Caramel Co." of York, Pennsylvania, on the reverse. Collectors have always appreciated the rarity and primitive charm of this distinctive candy issue. The offered example has a crisp image (slightly tilted), modest corner wear, and centering slightly toward the top. There is a light unobtrusive crease above Ruth's head. The reverse displays patches of discoloration and a back stamp, which is the reason for the qualifier. It is interesting to note that Ruth is actually pictured in a Boston Red Sox uniform on this card. York Caramels appear to have been regionally issued, as they are rarely found outside of the Pennsylvania area. This is a very presentable example from this rare issue (which has all the more significance as it dates from the legendary year of 1927) that would be a highlight in any Babe Ruth card collection. Reserve $500.
