Babe Ruth cut signature, most likely dating from the early-to-mid 1920s. Ruth's signature is scripted in black fountain pen upon a small segment of a blank sheet and grades "8/9" overall. The fact Ruth has bracketed the "Babe" portion of his signature in parentheses indicates that it is an early example, as he ended that practice around 1928 or 1929. The cut (3.5 x 1.5 inches, visible area) is in Excellent condition (a light crease is present below the letter "B") and has been matted and framed together with a reproduction photo (4-3/4 x 6-3/8 inches, visible area) of Ruth seated holding his bat. Total dimensions: 10.5 x 15 inches. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $500.
