Superb trio of B18 blankets, including Hall of Famers Frank Chance and Zach Wheat, along with Jimmy Walsh. These 5.25-inch squares of “flannel baseball cards” were issued in 1914, with several popular brands of tobacco. They are referred to as “blankets” because they were intended to be sewn together to create bed covers, pillowcases, etc. Chance and Wheat are Hall of Famers that are key to the set. All three examples present beautifully, with boldly colored and clean fronts and backs. Often overlooked by collectors, B18s are beginning to be recognized both for their scarcity, and for the exceptional value they represent compared to many other 1910-era baseball tobacco issues. Total: 3 blankets. Reserve $100.
