1907 Birmingham Barons W601 Sporting Life team composite featuring portrait images of 16 team members. It should be noted that Alcock, Clark, Gear, Molesworth, Ragan, Sallee, and Wilhelm all eventually played in the Major Leagues. Molesworth and Wilhelm also enjoyed more widespread fame with collectors when they were featured in the famed 1909-1911 T206 tobacco-card series. These team composites, printed on heavy enamel paper and issued by the Sporting Life newspaper, were available to fans either by individual purchase (for ten cents) or as a complete set in a bound volume. The offered piece originates from a bound volume, as indicated by the three prepunched binding holes along the left border. The piece (13 x 14 inches) displays small tears along the right and bottom borders, a few light creases, and moisture stains. Although the piece is in Good condition overall, it should be noted that it displays at a much higher level than that suggested by its technically accurate grade. (If matted and framed it would present as Excellent.) Accompanied by a complete March 9, 1907, issue of Sporting Life featuring the 1907 Birmingham Barons W601 team composite on the cover. Poor condition due to both covers detached. Total: 2 items. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $10.
