Graded EX 60 by SGC. One of only two examples graded at this level with none higher! This high-grade type card of George Gibson from the extremely rare E104-2 Nadja Caramels series features a classic portrait image. E104-2 Nadja Caramels are among the rarest of all twentieth-century caramel issues. Produced to commemorate the Pirates’ 1909 championship season, the 11-card set features only Pittsburgh Pirates. This example is bright and crisp with a deep blue background, four strong corners showing light touches of wear, and centering slightly toward the top right. The blank back is fairly clean. Surface scratches and surface imperfections factor into assigned grade. The E104-2 Nadja Caramels set is very closely related to the E90-2 American Caramel Pirates set. Caramel cards are rarely found in high grade, making this an especially desirable sample card from this rare, early twentieth-century candy issue, worthy of the finest E104-2 set, “E” card, or prewar-card collection.
